Be a Pipe Organ Donor! Immanuels Pipe Organ is in need of repairs that will cost us approximately $10,000.  Most of us at Immanuel consider the pipe organ to be one of our most precious assets.

So, how do you become a Pipe Organ? Donor  Your Tax Deductible Contributions may be made in memory of, or in honor of a loved one, or as you elect.  Your contributions can be mailed to Immanuel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 60, Townsend, DE  19734 or we also welcome you to enjoy the sounds of our grand pipe organ, at our regular Sunday church service at 11:00 a.m., (nursery and junior church are provided).

A list of donors will be on display at the church and published in the newspaper.   If you would rather remain anonymous, please let us know.  We very much appreciate all donations!

If you are not able to donate now, we do intend to sponsor other fundraisers and will be posting a gauge of our success in the front of the church on Main Street in Townsend.

Some history of our Pipe Organ -- The Wicks Pipe Organ Company in Highland, Illinois built our pipe organ.  First installed in 1946, the pipe organ moved to its current position in June of 1957 behind our altar.  The organ cabinet (keyboard console) is connected to the chimes and the pipes through controls that run through the floor.  The sound actually comes out of the pipes behind the cloth and decorative wood covering the back wall of the altar.  If the keys are selected to play the chimes; the sound comes from the pipes that we can actually see above the altar.

Aside from regular tunings and a few larger repairs in 2007, we have been very fortunate to have no real major problems.  With the organ?s age (66 years), and all original parts from 1946 that are deteriorating; repairs are needed in the very near future to keep the organ in good working condition.

We are hoping we can count on you to be a Pipe Organ? Donor!

Good and gracious God, we recognize all life is a gift and a blessing.  We thank you for your most generous love.  Encourage us to be persons of honesty and integrity, worthy of proclaiming the Gospel, in this sacred ministry of fundraising.

Help us always to reverence the sacred space where our donors and our missions meet.  Give us openness to listen to the needs of our donors.  Give us joyful spirits, and an eagerness to engage others.  Give us hopeful imagination and creative vision, recognizing generosity in even the smallest gift.

In God's name, we pray.  Amen.

Thank you and God Bless
